These terms cover your use of the TagTap apps for iPhone and Android. Using the app means you accept them.

What TagTap does

TagTap reads and writes NFC tags you physically hold against your phone. It can identify a chip, show its memory and configuration, and write NDEF records to tags that accept them.

What TagTap is not for

TagTap must not be used to clone, extract, emulate or replay payment cards, access badges, transit cards, hotel keys or government identity documents.

The app deliberately does not implement these workflows: it identifies a technology at a high level and stops there, and it makes no attempt to recover keys from a card that has them. You are responsible for only scanning and writing tags you own or have permission to use.

Operations that cannot be undone

Some tag operations are permanent in the silicon. Locking a tag read-only, setting lock bits, freezing a configuration page and setting a password can all be irreversible, and a wrong password can make a tag unusable. TagTap warns you before each of these, but the tag is yours and the outcome is final.

TagTap verifies every write by reading the tag back, but it cannot guarantee that any particular tag will accept a write, survive one, or behave as its manufacturer describes.

Chip identification and originality checks

Chip reports are based on what the tag says about itself and on published manufacturer data. An originality check tells you a signature verified against a manufacturer's public key — genuine means the check passed. TagTap will never tell you a tag is counterfeit, because a valid tag can fail this check for reasons that have nothing to do with authenticity. Do not treat any result as proof of provenance.

TagTap Pro

Reading, writing, verifying and batch runs are free. Pro is a single non-consumable purchase that adds unlimited saved templates, groups, QR export and the advanced record types, permanently on your store account. There is no subscription. Purchases, refunds and restores are handled by Apple or Google under their terms, not ours.

No warranty

TagTap is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damaged or bricked tags, lost data, or any loss arising from use of the app.
